Gutenberg Castle
High above the village of Balzers in the south of Liechtenstein stands the majestic Gutenberg Castle- a superbly preserved fortress!
The 70-meter-high hill on which the castle stands with many of the most important archaeological finds – including the ancient Mars von Gutenberg statuette – is now housed in the Liechtenstein Landesmuseum.
Highlights of a visit include the chapel and rose garden. You can explore its many rooms, halls, grand banquet hall, chapel, and knights’ hall. Each room is richly decorated and features a range of fascinating artefacts and historical objects. Another must-see destination in the castle is the castle museum. The Gutenberg Castle is also an architectural masterpiece. The castle’s design combines Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural elements, resulting in a unique and striking building unlike anything else in the region.
